Am I eligible?
To be classified as professional, you'll need to meet one of the following criteria.
Sophisticated Investor
You must meet one of the following criteria and demonstrate your knowledge as a sophisticated investor by completing our short, online knowledge quiz.
Requirement 1:
Show you have traded leveraged margin forex or CFDs at least 20 times per quarter, over a minimum of 4 quarters in the preceding 2 years, each with a notional value of AUD $50,000 or more.*
OR
Requirement 2:
Show you have worked in a professional position that directly involved trading in margin forex or CFDs in the financial sector for at least one year.
Wealth
You need to demonstrate either of the following:
Requirement:
Net assets of at least $2.5 million AUD; OR
Gross income of at least $250,000 AUD per year for the previous two financial years.
If you meet the above criteria, then we may consider categorising you as a Wholesale Client under section 761G(7) of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). Please note, however, that to confirm eligibility under this criterion, you must provide a certificate from a Qualified Accountant.
Sophisticated Investor
You must meet one of the following criteria and demonstrate your knowledge as a sophisticated investor by completing our short, online knowledge quiz.

*Please note:
i. Multiple smaller trades in the same direction that total AUD $50,000 may count as one qualifying trade.
ii. We accept trading history from Pepperstone accounts or from other brokers.
iii. If you have multiple Pepperstone accounts, we can consider trading activity across those accounts.

Important considerations for Pro clients
Important considerations for Pro clients
- A higher level of leverage will be offered to Pro account holders, but this also comes with increased risk.
- Pro clients may remain eligible for a one-time negative balance protection of up to USD 100,000. Beyond this, negative balance protection does not apply, meaning it is possible to incur losses greater than your deposited funds.
- The margin close-out will drop from 50% to 20% for MT4, MT5, and the Pepperstone platform.
- The financial services and products provided to Wholesale Clients may not have the same investor protection and disclosure requirements as products made available to Retail.
- We will still make our Internal Dispute Resolution service available to you at no cost. You can still access the external dispute resolution provider Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA); however, you may be treated differently given your status as an experienced wholesale investor, and your matter may be excluded at AFCA's discretion.
- There's no requirement to issue you a Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), Financial Services Guide (FSG), and disclosures; however, these are available on our website for you to review. We may assume a level of knowledge and experience when assessing whether our products are appropriate for you.

How do rebates work? An example...
If your total margin FX volume traded in a month is 500 lots, this falls under Tier 2. You'll therefore receive $2 per lot of FX, 20% spread reduction for indices CFDs & commodity CFDs,* even if your trading volume does not meet the minimum requirement of the other two asset classes.
