What are perpetual CFDs?

A perpetual CFD is a derivative contract that tracks an underlying asset with no expiry date. Unlike standard futures or dated CFDs, you can hold your position indefinitely – as long as your margin supports it.

To keep the contract price in line with the underlying market, a funding rate is applied. On most native perp venues, this rate shifts hour to hour with market demand. Pepperstone's doesn't. It is a single fixed weekly rate, split into daily charges, so you know your cost before the week starts.

Where regular CFDs stop, perps carry on.*

Perp CFDs don't replace how you already trade – they sit alongside it. When your regular CFD market closes, perp CFDs keep you in the market, ready to take a position or manage risk whenever you need to.

* Perp CFDs are synthetic CFDs that provide exposure to a synthetic market or valuation rather than a directly traded asset. Like all leveraged CFDs, they carry a high level of risk and can result in rapid losses. Synthetic markets may behave differently from the markets they reference.
