Creating a watchlist (Webtrader)

A watchlist is a subset of instruments that includes just those that you are trading in or have an interest in trading in. You can create any number of watchlists.

The Pepperstone app and Webtrader are synchronised, so a watchlist created in the app will automatically appear in Webtrader, and vice versa.

Tip: As well as personal watchlists that you create yourself, Webtrader provides a number of public watchlists. These are created by Pepperstone and include a range of currently  popular and trending products. Watchlists you create yourself are listed as My watchlists; watchlists created by Pepperstrone are listed as Public watchlists. Public watchlists are available to all users of Webtrader. You can initiate a trade by selecting an instrument from either a personal or a public watchlist.

You can create a watchlist from scratch or by duplicating a pre-existing watchlist.

Note: In this procedure, the word ‘click’ refers to either a click or a tap.

To create a watchlist from scratch

1. If there are no existing watchlists, click Watchlist on the menu bar near the top left of the screen.

A new panel opens listing all available products:

Tip: You can also display a listing of all available products by clicking Tools on the menu bar and selecting Watchlist from the menu that appears.

2. Either:

a. click the arrow to the right of All Products at the top left of the panel or

b. click the arrow to the right of the name of any watchlist.

3. Click Create new from the menu that appears

4. Enter a name for the new watchlist, then click Save. The panel is renamed, with no products listed.

5. You can leave the watchlist empty at this stage, or you can add symbols to it. To add one or more symbols:

In the field to the right of the watchlist name (with Symbol… as the in-field help text) enter one or more characters from the product’s symbol (for example, aud if you want to trade in Australian dollars).

a. list of all matching products appears, showing each product’s asset class.

b. Click on a product to add it to the watchlist.

c. To add more products, repeat from step 5a.

To create a watchlist by duplication

You can duplicate personal watchlists and public watchlists.

1. Display the watchlist you want to duplicate.

2. Click the down arrow to the right of the name of the watchlist.

3. Click Duplicate (or Duplicate to My List) from the menu that appears:

The suffix -Copy is placed after the name of the watchlist (Eurowatch 1-Copy, in the example above). Note that the original watchlist is not deleted.

Tip: The relevant option on the dropdown menu will read Duplicate to My List if you are duplicating a public watchlist.

4. To rename the new watchlist:

a. Click the down arrow to the right of the name of the watchlist.

b. Click Rename.

c. Enter a new name for the watchlist and click Save.
