Adding and modifying a chart indicator (Webtrader)

Adding an indicator to a chart

Indicators are statistics that describe a product’s past price movements and which may be helpful in predicting future price movements. Over 90 indicators are available in Webtrader and each can be configured in various ways.

You can add up to five indicators per chart.

Note: In this procedure, the word ‘click’ refers to either a click or a tap.

1. Display the chart you want to add an indicator to.

2. Click on the indicators menu icon on the charts toolbar at the top of the chart:

Tip: You can also click menu icon at the top right of the chart and select Indicators from the menu that appears.

The Edit Technical Indicators window appears:

3. From the AVAILABLE TECHNICAL INDICATORS list at the left, either:

a. double-click on an indicator you want to add or

b. drag the indicator to the ADDED TECHNICAL INDICATORS panel.

Repeat for each indicator you want to add.

Tip: You can quickly locate an indicator by entering all or part of its name in the Filter box.

4. Click on an added indicator. The current settings for that indicator are displayed. The example below shows the settings for the Schaff Trend Cycle indicator:

5. If necessary, change the selected indicator’s settings. Repeat from step 4 until you have set the parameters for all the added indicators.

6. Click Done.

The chart is redrawn. Some indicators will be overlaid on the chart; others will be represented by a secondary graph below the chart. An example showing both representations is shown below:

Tip: When an indicator is represented by a graph below the chart (as in the example above) you can increase or decrease the space allocated to the graph by dragging the bar that separates the chart from the graph upwards or downwards, respectively.

Modifying an indicator

1. Display the chart that has the indicator you want to modify.

2. Click on the indicators menu icon on the charts toolbar at the top of the chart:
